Our Ministry
Over Fifty Years of Christian Camping
Silver Spur’s mission is to, “Create an engaging environment where people learn and experience the grace and truth of Jesus Christ!” As a ministry of Next Generation Churches, Silver Spur has a vision for partnering with local churches and other non-profit organizations in the fulfillment of their ministry goals by providing comfortable accommodations and recreational opportunities for all ages. Our History Silver Spur was founded in 1965 with a vision of offering summer camps for kids. In 1967, Silver Spur became a ministry of Conservative Baptists of Northern California and Nevada, now known as Next Generation Churches. The initial buildings consisted of the lodge, pool and chapel. As the camp grew, it became apparent that there was a need for a year-round ministry. A group of volunteers built an open air worship building in 1980, which was enclosed in 1985 becoming the Silver Dome, enabling Silver Spur to offer year-round camps and retreats. Silver Dome was replaced in 2019 with a modern air conditioned Worship Center. In 1985, Silver Creek facility was completed by a group of volunteers. This campsite has individual cabins, dining/meeting building, pool and a spectacular view of the Sierras. In the early 90's, Silver Ridge, a 3-level home on property adjacent to the camp, was purchased and remodeled to accommodate up to 25 additional guests. |
